Treasures Found

It is Saturday and I am rarin to go! Been to DI and found some real treasures. Then off to Wal-Mart for spray paint, and Real Deals for more treasures. I hope to have pictures for you on Monday of the transformation of my treasures. You see I have been reading all these craft/homemaking blogs and it has inspired me with new ideas for my home. I spend a lot of time at home and I love to be a homemaker. Re-decorating and doing new things is my passion. I guess you would call me a "Nester". My little patio needs to be freshened up for the sunny season ahead, and I need to redo rooms in my little home. It drives me crazy because I have to have white walls! I am a color person. . . . white walls is like a blank canvas, it says "do something with me". I have lots of ideas, now I just have to implement them. . . . . that is the trick. Hopefull I will have pictures of my completed projects. I always forget to take the before pictures. You can really see the transformation in the befores.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Sunday I give my first lesson to the Laurels. I am excited. It is on Temple Marriage. I have a cute hand-out for them. I will have to take a picture of it and post it also. I am sure you will hear from me about my experiences teaching these adorable girls. I only have two right now, one will come in May. But the two I have will leave at the end of the summer. They are college bound.
Speaking of college bound. My Joel has decided to go to Snow College and play football. He didn't get a scholarship but he is "walking on". I can hardly stand the thoughts of him leaving for college. He is my baby grandchild. I helped raise him. . . It is hard sometimes to watch the passage of time. . . the older they get the older I get! Can't get off on that subject, I will be crying! And I have projects to get started on. I am off to spray paint . . . . .

This Beautiful World

Red cliffs of Southern Utah, as if God's paintbrush stroked the earth with varying huges of red.

Dead Horse Point near Moab, Utah. as the Colorado River making its journey to the Pacific.

The awesome power of nature's force. The volcanic eruption in Iceland.

The last few weeks I am awe-struck as I read and witness the natural occurances on this earth. I am reminded of the power of God and the forces of nature he commands with His Voice. This earth is beautiful and in a constant state of change. She was created for Man's happiness and to further our progression in the eternities. Heavenly Father is in charge of the earth and everthing that is upon it. The Earth and Universe were created by His mighty Hand. I stand in awe at the things I am witnessing. I have never seen nor heard of so much going on with the natural forces of nature. How blessed we are to be living at this time. We are able to witness the wonders by means of modern technology, and the knowledge we receive both from the scientific world and from the scriptures put everything in its proper place and perspective. I thank Him ever day for the little spot I occupy in the vastness of worlds without end. He know my name and He know my happiness and my sadness. What concerns me, concerns Him. I am so grateful for life in all it's forms, both seen and unseen.
Jesus Christ is the Mighty God. . . . . .

Scattered Ramblings on a Windy Night

A cheap table I have had for many years. Amazing what spray paint does. . . Cute

I like this grouping I have in a narrow wall at the end of my kitchen. Pictures of my grandkids and pictures of my Dad and my oldest son. Sweet reminders of how blessed I am.

One of my recent cross-stitch projects. Yes, it is suppose to be Spring, but so far I haven't seen it. I live in Utah. . . Spring will come someday and only stay for a few days, and then it will be summer with blazing hot weather. Oh well, there is no where else I would rather live.
My mind is scattered in the wind. It has been really blowing here all night and all day. My allergies have really got me down. My eyes are burning and running. I take allergey medication, but it makes me sleepy.
Today has been the Sabbath. I love Sunday's. I love the Lord's day. . . . it was good to be at Church today and hear other's testimonies. Last week was General Conference. I didn't get to see every session because I was on Easter vacation at my brother's in Kanab. (Earlier post). But the sessions I did listen to helped me so much. I am so blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. To have the knowledge and to be led by a living Prophet and Apostles at this time is a tremendous blessing and comfort. I stand all amazed at the love Jesus gives me and the blessings He sends me.
I follow several blogs and I am so inspired by them. Most of them are craft/homemaking blogs, with lots of neat ideas. I like to keep busy and create things and they give me great ideas. I am amazed at the talents of some of these bloggers.
I have been following one blog of a very talented gal, who makes the cutest greeting cards. But the thing that intregues me is she tells of her and her families journey with her husband fighting a very rare and deadly form of cancer.
I don't know how I found her blog, but each day I have to check it out and see her beautiful card and find out how her husband is doing. Sometimes it reminds me of my own journey many years ago with my husband and heart desease. She tells how her and her husband take long walks and talk so intimately about life and how she sees things differently. The small things in life become so wonderous. The things you take for granted become so important. You realize how beautiful God's creation of this earth and this life are. You cherish each moment each second you have with family and friends. . . . Life takes new meaning.
Oh, how I remember the night before Lloyd's first open heart surgery. How frightened we both were, how much we loved each other and our children, and our life together. This was in 1978 before modern medical technology had perfected open heart surgery. We were young, and so very frightened. My sweetheart lived through that surgery and subsequent surgeries, and then one day his heart gave out. It could no longer function and the Lord called Lloyd home. And my life and my children's life started on a new path.
Life is full of paths. . . . it is a journey and we are changing and learning all the while we are here. I want to enjoy my journey, I want to have the little things matter. I want to cherish each moment of time. . . . appreciate the beauties that surround me.

Easter In Kanab

The kids having their pictures taken in the slot canyon. My brother standing at the entrance of the canyon. You can see how narrow parts were.

My brother at the slot canyon I am going to hike into. I can't believe I did it.

Emma, Melanie and Jared ready to go to the sand dunes and the slot canyon

Little Preston is so cute. He is with his Mommy my niece Casey watching for the wild turkey's to jump from the red cliffs.

A beautiful ampatheater in the red cliffs.

We watching the wild turkey's jump from the red cliffs. It was so amazing to watch them.

The tom turkey's would have their tails in full fans, and their "skirt" would also be full. It was a wonderful sight to watch them jump from the cliffs. They were going to roost in the trees.

Thursday we went to Paria. It is beautiful with very different rock formations and colors. There is an ancient cemetrary there. The early pioneers tried to settle the area, but the elements where too harsh. In modern times many western movies were filmed there. The Outlaw Josey Wells with Clint Eastwood was filmed there.

Melanie, Emma, KaitLynn, Kyle and Jared at the ancient cenetrary.

Clint and Julie are ready to get on the road

Audrey wouldn't let me take her picture

KaitLynn was happy to see us

Lily is excited to start our long journey to Kanab

Emma and Jared are very excited

It was snowing in Tooele when we left for Kanab.

I will have more pictures tomorrow. I have to go watch Dancing With The Stars! Somehow I have to learn how to post my pictures in a more efficient way and so they look nice. I am just learning blogging.
