Every Good Witch Knows. . . .

Oh, yes every good witch knows. . .
Stay with your first instinct!

I began my blog many years ago with the intent of keeping a
visual record of my decorating. . .Thus
Karie's Chic Creations was born.
I have talked about many things besides my
decorating. . .I have made friends along my way.

How could I even begin to think I could
delete this precious blog of mine?
Ugh! What was I thinking?
So pardon the lapse in good judgment
please continue with my ever so unpredictable journey
blogging about my life!

I invite you into my home this Harvest Season.
I don't decorate for Halloween. . .I am past that stage
in my life.. . and besides I don't like things that are
scary or creepy. . .I like cutesy!
I call it Harvest. . .!  Or just plain
October.

Oh, but I do like my cute little witch and her shoes.

I like her shoes, because as we all know
Every good witch knows
it is all in the shoes!

Please do come back. . !

Finding Balance and Enjoying Life

I hope I am  back to  blogging!
It has been awhile.  I am sorry about that,
But sometimes life just gets in the way of extra
things you would like to do.

I have been busy. . . .thank goodness
for BUSY!

And most of all thank goodness for talents
that allow me to create and enjoy what I am doing.

Do you ever find it hard to have balance in your life?
I think it is an ongoing thing to try and find balance.
That is one of the reason I had to stop blogging for
a period of time.
I just could not find the time to do everything I wanted to
do and the things I feel I need to do.
Blogging is one of the things I like to do.
And I want to do.

I thought when I was a young wife and mother that eventually
things would slow down, and it would be easier to find
balance once my children grew older.
I thought the demand placed on me would become easier.

Oh no! I was wrong.

I think I am busier now than I have ever been.
Now don't get me wrong. . .I love serving my family and
my friends. . .but sometimes I forget to serve myself.

It is all about BALANCE and ENJOYING each phase of LIFE.

I am going to try to have balance, and enjoy life
and make the time to serve myself.

Value and Cherish Family

The value of listening to our children can never be under-estimated.
Spending time as families talking, listening. and enjoying each
others company is more critical than ever before.

We live in troubled times.  The recent events of the past few weeks
have stunned many people.  We wonder what is happening
in our society.
We blame everyone and everything for the problems we are having.

Maybe we need to take a good look within!
In my honest and humble opinion this all started many, many years ago.
with the break down of the family!

Now is the time for change.
Families must come first. . our children
need the constant attention from caring, loving
parents, grandparents, extended family members.
friends, and neighborhoods.

A very powerful message.

Brought to you by:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Things I Love

The Things I Love
Always and always at the top of my Love List is
my family.  I am amazed at the beautiful family I have.
I have had the love of my life my husband Lloyd,
who loved my with all his heart.  When he died at 48 years of age
I thought my heart would never recover. . it didn't.
But my life has been blessed and full of joy.
Family is the most important thing in life.
It is true what the Prophets have told us.
"Nothing in life will matter, if you haven't the love
of your children"
AND
"Nothing will compensate for failure in the Home."
I love the season.
I think Nature is in full glory right now.
The weather is perfect, the earth is changing.
And I like the change.
I love the sound of children laughing.
They are happy little souls.
It makes me happy to hear them laugh.
I love the scriptures.
I read them every day.  And I love the time I spend
reading the words of God.
It gives me comfort, it gives me strength.
I love the Scriptures.
The Scriptures have done so much for me.
I love Church's
I love how we build beautiful buildings to worship in.
I know it doesn't matter how humble or grand a church building
may be, I love them.
The steeple, points upward to the heavens.
It is a symbol of our love and devotion to God.
I love to read, therefore I love books.
I am very selective with what I read.
I like a good book, that can carry me away.
It is good to read, I am thankful I was taught in my
young years to love reading.
I love books.  I love to hold the book.  I love to turn the pages.
And I love to READ.

So what do you love. .
You are unique and what you love will be
unique to you.

Have a wonderful day.
And be Thankful!

Beautiful Spring Time.

Just a few little thoughts I have today.
It is the last day of April and I am still wondering
where oh where does the time go?
I remember my Papa telling me the older you get
the faster time goes.  Well, as always my Papa is right.
The funny thing is so much happens in a day and yet
the day ends and we begin another and another day.
Sometimes I have to pause and savor moments, even seconds
because I know time is fleeting.  I am living my future right now.
I am in my late sixties.  There was a time when I thought
late sixties was a long ways down my path of life.
Ha! it is here and I am living it.  I think of how fast the last
20 years have gone, and I look to my future and wonder
if I will make it another 20 years.
I go to the Temple each month
it is there that I feel the peace of the Savior
and I am able to gain the proper perspective of life.
There is no end of days.  There is no end to life.
But there are seasons of life and seasons of days.
Yesterday I pondered in my heart the season I am in
at this time.  There are many blessings and gifts to this season of time.
I am thankful to embrace my season, and live my life to the fullest.
I just pray I may always be in harmony with my Savior and Heavenly Father.
They have given me so much.
It is Springtime where I live.  My Springtime has passed.
When I was in the Springtime of my life I don't think I realized
how precious it was, I rushed through it.  I believe it takes time and
years of experience to understand the preciousness of seasons.
Time passes, and with each day holds precious moments.
Now I don't want to rush, I want to take my time and enjoy.
Springtime in the Valley.

Tulips are a sign of Springtime.

Springtime Color
Spring in my Home
My little Teddy loves to photo bomb!
What a character he is.
I have gone from raising annoying children to
raising annoying fur babies.
They both a require a high degree of tolerance and love.
In return they give me so much love and company
And friendship.
I can't complain, I am thankful.
I have a small backyard that is screaming for me to take care of it.
But, I just want to putter. . .I don't want to rush through
pulling weeds, and cleaning up the winter.
But, alas, I guess that is what this season is.
Cleaning up the past. And making new again.

Always look for the sunshine in your life even when
the darkness seems to be all that you see.
There is Light!

Things May Be Changing

Well, things are happening. . as always
I may be changing the format of this blog.
Let me tell you my story.
I recently made some wonderful connections with my
Distant cousins from the Daley side of my family.
Because you see I am a  Daley and I love family and I
Especially love finding cousins.
This cute Daley cousin started it all.
My second cousin Jeanine and her Daddy Dean.
She found me on Family Search.
She contacted me. . and the rest is history.
She and her wonderful Dad came to visit me at my home.
I shared with them my book I had made several years ago.
Lots of pictures of the Daley Family.
Her Grandmother, Winona, was my Grandpa Jean's baby sister.
We share the same Great-Grandparents. .
Graham Little Daley and Margaret Eva Simonds Daley.
We are so blessed to have found each other.
And our bond was immediate.
She is just a delightful gal. . .so thankful to call her cousin.
This past Tuesday we met with other cousins.
My Aunt Madeline Emma Daley Wilson was able to be with us.
She has lots of stories to tell of the family.
Along with cousins,
Jane Ann Wilson Draper and Cora Jean Wilson Jolly who are my
first cousins, and daughter to Aunt Madeline.
Blaine and Carolyn Wood and Nina and Dick Payne
Maurine Johnson Hurst and Ruth Daley Mathnvnk
Also joined us.
Madeline and I shared our Daley books. . and shared the stories of our
Daley Family.
I made copies for everyone there. . It was a most delightful and spiritual
time that we spent together.
We want more of our family to join with us.
We want the Daley Cousins to come together.
There are so many we don't know where they are.
I am going to be sharing on this blog some of my stories and pictures of
My Daley family.
I hope if anyone out in blog land sees this blog and would like to contribute
To please contact me, and join in the gather of our family.
Families are Forever
And we must keep the connection going while here on this earth.
Hope you will come back and see the pictures I have to share
And the stories I have.
Hugs to all.

The Sweethearts of Yesterday~ Old Friends

Hello my  dear friends in blogland.
I am enjoying my summer so much that I forget to
Post on my little blog, Karie's Daley Life.
I have just been so busy.. . and I really have
Little to show for it, but I am having fun.
I love Retirement. . .It is the best.
I have been connecting with friends. .
New ones, and old ones, and some that are in the middle.
Time is fleeting. . going ever so fast
Some day is here for many of us.
These beautiful ladies are the girls I went to
All through school together.
We come from a small little town
Where everyone knew our names and our parents,
And our grandparents, and greats. . and beyond.
We were loved and cherished in our little town.
It was truly a place where everyone watched out for everyone else.
High School graduation brought many changes for us.
Some married, others went on to college and some headed for
The big city for work. . .
We all had our own journey to take.
Each journey is unique to that young woman.
Now we are in our Someday. . .
And our paths have come together again.
Spending time with each other. . recalling the tender
days of our youth.
Almost 50 years ago each of us took our own path,
Now our paths have joined together. . Amazing how that happens.
"There is a season for everything"
It is again our season to friendship one another,
To care for one another, To lift our spirits, and
To laugh with one another.
And to cry with one another . . . ..  It is all part of the journey.
Our parents are gone, some have lost siblings,
Others of us have lost our husbands. . .
It is just the cycle of life.
A time to be young, A time to be in love,
A time to mourn, A time to rejoice.
I am going to cherish the moments we have
The times we are together. . our friendships are unique
Each one of us is destined for eternity.
But for this time on this beautiful earth. . I will share
A part of it with my old friends.
The Sweethearts of Yesterday.

Summer Rain

Oh, it has been beautiful this morning.
We had a gentle Summer Rain last night and the
Earth is so refreshed.
And I feel refreshed.
Amazing how that works. . I believe we are all
Connected to the earth and the heavens.
When my soul is in turmoil I know that I have not been
Spending enough time connecting to my natural surrounding.
Or I have not spent the time to look at the night sky or
The blue beauty over head.
We are all somehow connected to nature.
Mother Earth sustains our lives through her bounty of nutrients
So why should it be any different that she would give us
The substance of Spiritual nutrients?
I guess it takes a Summer Rain to bring me back to my "roots".
I am thankful for Summer Rain. . .

Beautiful Sabbath

Ah, Today Is Sunday,
One of my favorite days.
Church was good today.  So fulfilling, and uplifting.
It helped to build me spiritually for today and the coming week.
It was Fast and Testimony meeting, and all the testimonies were
Heartfelt and uplifting.  I enjoyed each one.
Our Sunday School Lesson was on the Fall of King David.
What a tragedy! King David was a great King, he was good.
The Lord could see that his "heart" was good.  King David led
The Israel nation with dignity.  He joined two nations. He built the
Kingdom of God. . .but oh, David fell!
He knew he what he was doing was wrong. . .and he made matters worse
He could have repented of his first sin, but the second he could not redeem himself.
His eternal blessings have been given to another.
King David spent the rest of his life lamenting his wrong doing.
Could that happen to me, or to others.  Yes! hopefully we never go so far
As covering our sin with the grievous sin of murder.
We are human, we are trying with all we have to be "Good".
To do the things that are pleasing to the Lord.  I repent every day of things
I have done wrong.  I pray, that the Atonement will work for me, and that
My sins will be forgiven.
Only the Savior can know my heart. . .He and only He can wash
My sins away.  Only He can Heal the broken vessel of a person that I am.
Only The Savior, Jesus Christ. . .Only He.
To top my day at Church, was Relief Society. .
My good friend Sue gave the lesson.
She did a marvelous job. .
Ministering Grace, through my communications.
I must admit I am not a good communicator. . .
I wish I was better at uplifting others.  I wish I could convey in words my
True feelings to those who I come in contact with.
I want to spread sunshine through my words and my actions,
But alas, I fear I fail . . .so my resolve is to
Try a little harder.  Tender words, a Smile, A pleasant look upon my face.
In some little way, I can make the world a little brighter for myself and others.
I hope I can improve my communication with my loved ones.
We all carry our own burdens, and worries.
And I need to be more mindful of others feelings.
Oh, the blessings of Sunday. . The Sabbath. . The Lord's Day
And amazingly it turns to be Our Day.
I don't know what I would do without Sunday.
The day of rest, the day of prayer, reflections, medication.
A day to draw closer to the Lord, and in return He blesses us with more abundance
More love, more charity, more of everything.
Beautiful Sabbath!

My Grandson Missionary

My second Grandson left today to serve a  mission for
The Church of  Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Oh, how I am going to miss this grandson.
He has been such a delight. . so active and so good.
But, I know he is doing what the Lord wants him to do.
I have sent a son and another grandson and I have
Seen the miracles in their lives.  I have seen the blessings
That have come to them as they have served faithfully.
I know Andrew will be a wonderful missionary.
He has been prepared well by his loving parents.
And his Church teachers and leaders.
I could not be more proud of him.
He will have the Lord with him and he will have
Angels to attend him.
Two years seems like a long time right now,
But, the time will go by fast and he will be home
Ready to begin another part of his life journey.
Right now I am feeling very blessed
The Lord has blessed me with so much.
As I have Honored Him, He has Honored Me.
And one of those honors is having Missionary sons.
My grandson, Andrew is in the Lords care
As he is in the Lord's service.

Decorating For The 4th of July

Hello,
I am happy you are here.  And I hope you enjoy my blog.
Today, I am going to show you my July decorations on my porch.
Well, I actually think it is called a "stoop".
Whatever the name, it is my tiny porch that I like to decorate.
I change it several times a year.
Right now it is decorated for July 4th.
Red, White and Blue with a little touch of yellow
And whatever other color I can come up with.
I love color!  Truly, I am a color gal. . .
The 4th of July is one of my favorite celebrations.
It is a laid back holiday, with no pressures to please everyone.
Of, course I take the reason for the celebrating very serious.
I am extremely proud to be an American.
My ancestors are very early settlers.
In fact, I have an 5th great-grandfather who fought in the
American Revolution!
Just how cool is that?  Well, I think it is very.
And of course I have my Father, and my Uncles who fought in
World War II
And my brother-in-law in Viet Nam
So, I have reason to celebrate this Great Nation.
With all it's faults and failing, it is the Greatest Nation on this Earth.
There is no where that compares to this country.
I will be celebrating with family.
Parade, barb-a que. and fireworks.
All in celebration. . . with family and friends.
I am sure I will be back again this week.
I have so much to share with you.
Have a wonderful day.

The Motherland

Well, I certainly neglect this little blog.
And I shouldn't. . I love this blog
It is where I can write my thoughts and reflections.
So with a new beginning, that is what I will do
Write my thoughts and reflections on life.
General thoughts but very personal.
I recently took a day trip to my little hometown.
I call it The Motherland.
My ancestors settled this little town.
I was born there and spent my childhood there.
I am very proud to say it is "home" to me
Though I no longer live there
In fact, I have been away longer than I lived there.
Over 40 years ago my husband and our two little children left the Motherland.
We moved to our new Home, I told my husband he would be
Lucky if I lasted a year.  Well, here I am more than 40 years later.
I have raised my children here, and they are very well planted in this little
spot of the earth.  I love this little spot of earth too.  But I always long for
the place of my birth, my childhood, my young adulthood.
Maybe it is I miss the people that gave me security and love.
They have long passed to the other side, and I miss them so much.
This is my favorite mountain in all the Wasatch Range,
It is called Loafer.  For many reason it is my favorite.
My husband loved this mountain.  It stands as a
Sentinel over the valley protecting and watching over
The valley below.  . . .I love this mountain.
It speaks to my soul and calms me.
The valley is peaceful with lush green fields.
I sometimes wish I lived where there are green pastures,
Where little brooks feed the grass and fields with life give water.
But alas it is not met for me to live here.
The Lord has placed me in another part of His vineyard.
He trusts that I will help build his Kingdom here on earth.
But, my heart still lies in the the valley of my birth and my childhood.
Someday I will return.  I have a little plot of land . . and someday
My earthly remains will be placed there. . and I will be securely
Placed near the majestic mountain that whispers peace to my soul.

Thankful for Sunday's

Hello to Everyone.
Thank you for stopping by my blog.
I hope you enjoy .
I have been doing a 30 day of
Thankful
Each day I tell you what I am thankful for.
Well, Today I am Thankful for
Sunday
Yes, I love Sunday's
Sunday's are a special day. . of course I believe Sunday's belong to the Lord.
But, never the less, they are different.
It is a day to relax from the "everyday".
It is a day to refresh the mind, and the spirit and the body.
I can never remember a time when I didn't feel the special-ness of
 Sunday. . .
I love the feeling it gives me.
The refreshing atmosphere of happiness
The relaxation, the slowness of the day.
I like going to Church, partaking of  the Sacrament
Singing the hymns of praise and gratitude.
I love to read my scriptures. . and to ponder the words of the Savior.
I love to Pray
Not only on Sunday but every day.
But on Sunday my Prayers seem to be more heartfelt.
More in tune with my desires, my cares.
And being in tune with myself, brings me more in-tune
To my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
And so today and everyday I am
Thankful for Sunday.
I hope you have a blessed and happy

October 2013

It takes me a while but I eventually get back to my roots in
Karie's Daley Life.
I am just a little a lot consumed in

Be sure to visit me there.
It is now October 2013

Just seems that life keeps moving forward.
Lots of new and exciting things happening and yet it is the
Same old life, I am living.
But I love it.
Totally busy with children and grandchildren.
That is never ending and I never want it to end.
They are my life I love them and love being with them.
I take my calling as a mother very serious
It is the highest calling of womanhood.
Mother and being a wife have been my cherished treasures in this life
And they will be after I am gone form this earth.
We Jackson's know how to have fun
(The the big Jackson boy)
(A couple of the Princesses)
(The oldest Prince)
(Second to the oldest Prince)
(There is the Youngest Prince)
And a couple of the Momma's
But of course I am the Big Momma, and Queen of the Jackson's
And we know how to cry and cheer one another up.
Lots of ups and downs in this life.
But that is what it is all about.
I hold strong to my belief in  Jesus Christ.
I have had a few experiences lately that re affirm my knowledge of
His reality and His ever watchful eye upon me and my family
I will be back sooner than you expect.
Hope there are a few out there that read my posts
on Karie's Daley Life.
Hugs to you all.
